Happy July!!!

We are in the heat of summer and boy is it hot!!! We were thinking of sailing up to New England area to escape the heat, but it's just as hot up North. So right now YINSANITY is enjoying the southern charms of Charleston, South Carolina. Cheers!

What’s new:

We just bought a drone. Mike is trying to figure it out. I wanted to have it ready by July 4th but it may take some time to figure out on land before we fly it over water. It should be exciting as soon as we have it up and running.

Book Recommendation:

I just finished this book and I really enjoyed it. It's eye opening and offers a broad picture of human history. What does it mean to be human? In his book that spans two and a half million years, Israeli historian Yuval Noah Harari seeks to find out. He does into detail about the changes that made Homo (‘man’) into Homosapiens (‘wise man’). Harari delves into the subjects of a large brain, tool use, complex social structures and more. In the beginning of human existence, there were several different human species on the planet and we putzed around pretty unremarkably. Then something happens and Harari doesn’t even have a clue what happened. He points out that it’s not entirely obvious what first spurred the development of the human species’s extraordinary intelligence. Today, of course, there is just one human species alive. How did we, the Homo sapiens become so successful and others did not? Harari believes it was our unique cognitive abilities that made the difference. Read more...

Thought-provoking articles:

A tiny pea-sized, pine cone shaped, gland resides in the centre of our brains and holds the secrets to spiritual wisdom, creativity, inspiration and psychic awareness. The ancient people around the world knew about the pineal gland and how powerful it is. The pineal gland is an important psychophysiological centre and is the source of clairvoyance and intuition. It has also been described as “the principal seat of the soul,” and the portal to the higher dimensions as it provides perception beyond ordinary sight. Interestingly, the pineal gland has been linked to the production of the psychedelic DMT or Dimethyltryptamine. Read more...

Travel Articles:

Today it's 95 degrees in Charleston but 71 degrees in Seattle, Washington. What better way to beat the heat than the Pacific Northwest? Seattle is on the Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest in Washington State. It's surrounded by water, mountains and evergreen forests, and I was lucky to be there with great weather. In 1851, Arthur Denny lead a group of men from Illinois out West  and the majority of men settled in the eastern side of the bay, where downtown Seattle is located. The settlement they created was named Seattle in honor of a helpful local Indian leader Chief Sealth. Later in 1864, one of the men, Asa Mercer, made two trips to New York City to recruit prospective brides. He brought back 100 women who became known as the Mercer girls.  Read more...

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why in the world are you living on a boat?

Living on a boat was not originally in our plan. Our plans were to travel the world. We fell in love with the concept of cruising in Hawaii and after some investigating, we found out that this could be a fun way to travel. Luckily for us, we had been traveling for two years in an SUV, living out of hotels and camping, so transitioning to the catamaran was not hard. But, it has taken some adusting.
