Glow Worm Caves, Auckland, New Zealand

The Glow Worm Caves is a world renowned and a magnet for both local and overseas visitor. The caves have been guided since 1889 and occupy a high place in the New Zealand vacation wish-list. We just stared in wonder at the thousands of illuminating glowworms above our heads as we were silently pulled on a boat through the glowworm grotto.

As soon as we entered this galaxy of tiny living lights, we were immediately experienced a serene ambience and were fascinated and intrigued by tiny glowworms. It was an amazing experience.

Many of the guides we met are descendants of the Maori chief who originally explored the cave and can they shared their remarkable history. There is an area in the cave system that has amazing acoustics and our Maori guide sang to us. It was so magical.
